Rod Walton of Tahoe arranged the event to bring great folks together to enjoy both the beautiful area & the satisfaction of working together on a community project. The following is his notice. Linda Howard Do you want to get away up to gorgeous Loon Lake 6600 Feet, up in the Crystal Basin on the backside of the Rubicon Trail? It's 90 minutes from South Lake Tahoe &/or Placerville, SEPT. 21-23, FRIDAY- SUNDAY. FREE CAMPING- At RED FIR GROUP CAMPSITE- (LOON LAKE) just for us Greens & friends of Greens. Toilets, dumpers, water, store, main road, fishing, hiking, swimming & all camping type playing by a huge Lake. We will be cleaning up either the beach, roads, ruff campsites or the general area. This must be done before the trash blows into the lake. The Forest Supervisor Charis Parker from PARKS & REC, will provide us with the tools we need. But I would bring a pair of gloves & hat. We can work [volunteer] for 4 hours per day, Saturday & Sunday or just come up for just one of the days only, and the rest of the time is ours to play. We can get to know like mind friends also. You must bring all your own campout stuff - food, flashlight, coat, long pants, soap & sleeping stuff, etc. The PERFECT WEATHER will be in the 70s in the day: but the low 30s at night. DIRECTIONS- FROM PLACERVILLE ON HYW 50 - 9-MILES PAST POLLOCK PINES TURN LEFT ONTO ICE-HOUSE ROAD . IF you see Saint Paullys Restaurant you passed it up; go back 1 mile to ICE HOUSE ROAD. FROM SOUTH LAKE TAHOE ON HYW 50, GO 1-MILE PAST SAINT PAULLYS RESTARANT. TAKE A RIGHT TURN ONTO ICE HOUSE ROAD. IF YOU SEE FRESH POND GAS STATION YOU PASSED IT; GO BACK 1 MILE TO ICE HOUSE ROAD. GO ALL THE WAY UP TO LOON LAKE AT THE END OF ICE HOUSE ROAD. BEFORE YOU GET TO 2ND DAM, TO THE LEFT IS RED FIR GROUP CAMPSITE. GO IN THERE; IF GATE IS LOCKED, WALK IN & GET SOMEONE TO OPEN IT.
