[Sosfbay-discuss] The Regressive Sales Tax

Has the Green Party of California ever made any waves - or ripples -
against the regressive form of taxation: sales taxes? Many decades ago
when sales taxes were not as pervasive as they are now, "liberals"
fought the perverse tax tooth and nail.

If the computer and the means to reach millions on the internet had been
available forty-five years ago, the liberals, mainly Democrats, but some
Republicans and the Socialists, may have been able to head off the sales
tax syndrome. However, the good old boys, including Democrats,
gradually caved in.

As usual, the have-nots had to pay, while the haves had their way,
because the public had its head in the hay.

Actually, I think the majority (a 60% or 80%, whatever) of people don't
know they're being taken to the cleaners.

The regressive sales tax may not be as much of a critical issue as
poverty wages is, but shouldn't we, the _/go get-um Greens/_ try to
resurrect a stronger opposition to it?

I'll take my answer off the air.
