POLAR-PALOOZA 'Stories from a Changing Planet'
on October 26, 2007 at 7 p.m.
Get a feel for life on the world's icy edges when POLAR-PALOOZA visits
Ames on Friday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m., in Bldg. 943. Admission is free and
open to the public. A team of six scientists and Arctic residents will
tell personal stories of life and research in polar regions, supported
by dramatic high definition video footage. POLAR-PALOOZA seeks to
inspire diverse audiences across America to better appreciate the many
ways the rapidly changing Arctic and Antarctic affect the health and
functioning of the entire Earth system.
The entire 'Stories from a Changing Planet' team comprises researchers
and Alaskan residents representing experts on ice, Earth history,
penguins, polar bears, climate change, the oceans and subsistence living
on the coast or in the Alaskan interior. The presentation includes
authentic artifacts (ice cores, parkas, etc.) and high definition
videotape filmed on location at the poles.

(This is the only stop for Polar Palooza in the South Bay. It will also
go to Chabot Science Center and Lawrence Hall of Science in the East Bay
10/27 - 28.)
POLAR-PALOOZA is made possible by support from NSF, the National Science
Foundation, and by NASA's Science Mission Directorate, and is an
official International Polar Year activity. POLAR-PALOOZA is produced by
PASSPORT TO KNOWLEDGE, P2K, which is solely responsible for its content.
