Yossi Khen "The Conscience of an Israeli" What is a 'refuse-nik?' Yossi Khen will tell us how he became one. Yossi was born in Israel, and served in the Israeli army. Yossi witnessed the daily abuse in the Occupied West Bank where he stayed as part of his service. In April 1973 Yossi refused to serve in the occupied West Bank as a reserve soldier. He spent some time in military jail. When he completed the military service, he joined activities for human rights and peace. In 1978, he moved to The Unites States. In 1981 Yossi joined the New Jewish Agenda (NJA) in LA, and was active on the Israeli Palestinian issue through this organization. In 1988 he represented NJA in building a coalition in LA that included NJA, Palestine Society of
 America, ADC, American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), and Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILF). He was one of the main speakers of the coalition, together with Palestinian friends. Yossi continues speaking on the Israeli Palestinian issue in different forums. Currently, Yossi is a member of "Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace" or "Brit-Zedek Veshalom," which supports a just peace based on 2 states of Israel and Palestine.
