I was curious about the number 35,800, so I did a search
and found:

What I don't understand is how he can collect money for the
general campaign before the Democratic National Convention.

Note that most of the money goes to the DNC, but none goes to
the state party.  Maybe because Obama is campaigning for federal
office, not state office, but I don't know.

It seems that if you go to one of these events, you are shutout
of Obama fundraising through Nov. 2012.  Too bad.
