Global media coverage of the revolutionary uprising in Egypt
was enormous. Yet attention was intensely focused on Tahrir
Square, as if it represented the entire country. What vital stories
did the media miss? What were the limitations and challenges
of covering a nationwide uprising under dictatorship, anarchy,
and then military rule?

 

Panelists:

 

Dina Ibrahim, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of Journalism at
San Francisco State University. She was in Egypt just before the
popular uprising erupted.

 

Sharat G. Lin, Ph.D. is president of the San Jose Peace & Justice
Center. He spent a week in Tahrir Square at the height of the popular
uprising in Egypt.
