Agenda, Santa Clara County Single Payer Healthcare Coalition meeting- Tuesday, 
Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.

As usual, your contribution to the healthy snack table will be appreciated.

·        Report on solidarity March with Occupy the Streets 5 p.m. Thursday Nov. 
17 future ideas for working with Occupy SJ, short discussion about Occupies and 
their evolution in face of increased repression
 
	* Report on tabling for Single Payer at the Abilities Expo staffed by Coalition 
and HCA people-Greg, Carol D., Joan Simon, Joan Goddard, Gina Maren, Amy 
Samelson, Lynn, Curly Burns, Andrea Perry
 
·        In answer to new members' request for training I suggest we do a 
mini-training within meeting today to help folks get comfortable talking about 
single payer.  More experienced folks sharing talking points, approaches for 
talking to friends or doing a short encounter (elevator speech)  educating about 
single payer.  Please be ready some of you to share your short speech.  Let's 
role play what are some questions people ask and how we answer them.   Bring 
fact sheets.  Most important points about single payer to you.   

 
·        Set up a committee for  more detailed Speaker Training and forum for 
January - Carol , Katherine, Others?   

 
   
·        Legislative Update  Caling Senator Christine Kehoe, Chair Senate 
Appropriations Cmte. 916-651-4039 to pass 810 through her cmte.
Plan for getting letters of support sent to Mark Leno:   Last year there were 
over 500 orgs endorsing--re-contact these groups in case they don't know they 
need to re-endorse every legislative cycle- Do we need a committee to coordinate 
this effort?  Visit to Simitian, others.  

 
	*  Report from Greg Miller about the Campaign for a Healthy California
 
 
·        Strategize getting more people out to January 9, 2012 Sacramento 
Student Lobby Day- Shruthi and Swathi
                         
·         Report, Sandy, getting a resolution supporting SB 810 from the city of 
SJ , also report re reaching out to SIREN      (Other ideas for reaching out to 
the immigrant communities)
 
·        Greg, report on CNA' s Mainstreet Campaign ( ongoing)
 
·        Update from CARA and fighting to preserve Medicare/Social 
Security-Greg, Joan S., Joan G. 

  
·        Report From Outreach Committee's many activities this month.  How to 
manage sign-ups from recent Outreach activities. Does anyone want to join this 
committee, a great way to learn the issues from seasoned single payer folks?  
Future outreach opportunities
 
·        Event Planning: Combined program with Holistic Pain Management 
Institute   December 8th 7 p.m.
 
·        Update 3rd annual Andrew Hill Fair
 
·        Continue to explore how we can implement our ideas generated in last 
month's great meeting,  for building the mass movement needed to make California 
the next state to win single payer. (re tech community, small business, 
students)
