       There are many complaints about major banks allegedly creating 
obstacles to people closing accounts

I can't vouch for the veracity of the stories, but one of several 
examples was as follows:


I've also had Chase deny me the right to remove my money because I had 
the "Possibility of Pending Deposits or Credits." I asked if I could 
leave the amount in which may be pending, to which they denied me again. 
I spent the next 2 weeks, making sure all of my Bill Pays were clear and 
hadn't used the account. I went in again and they tried to pull the same 
shit on me. I threatened to call the police and then they finally 
complied. Not sure if this was a way for them to try and keep me as a 
customer, but it was certainly not the right way..
