Thanks to all who signed (and especially circulated) nominating
papers.

There was a little drama in this, because we didn't know if the
state Coordinating Committee would demand to see our nominating papers
and check them with some list of registered voters. Therefore, we made
sure we had at least the minimum number of signatures, eliminated
duplicates, and checked all with the lists of voters from the Santa
Clara County Registrar of Voters. We needed 20 signatures from people
registered Green in Santa Clara County. We had collected 22 signatures,
but one was a duplicate. That left us with 21. I found only 18 of
those in the roster Jim Doyle got from the Registrar of Voters around
May 30, 2012. Since we were 3 shy, I went to the Registrar of Voters
office. A computer terminal there allowed me to search their database
by name but not by address. The latter was a problem, because I had
trouble reading some of the printed names, and I found some of the 18 in
the old list from their address. I found the first of the 3 but not the
second. Then I learned that specifying only the first few letters of
the last name gave me all people in the list matching that, so "Roc"
matched both "Rocka" (of which there were none) and "Rocha".

       Thanks again,
       Spencer
