Unity March in Anaheim
Sun. July 21, 1pm
Anaheim City Hall
200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
Anaheim, California
On July 21, 2012 Anaheim police murdered Manuel Diaz while he was surrendering and following police orders. On Sunday, July 21, 2013, there will be a statewide “March Against Police Brutality” in Anaheim. Bus and other transportation are being organized from the Bay Area. Sign up today to reserve a seat on the bus or to help a student or low-income person attend.
Manuel Diaz was shot in the head in front of his community, and the very next day another Anaheim resident, Joel Acevedo, was shot and killed by the Anaheim cops.
In response to the murders, community members peacefully protested outside their homes. The Anaheim police responded with extreme violence, unleashing attack dogs and shooting life-threatening munitions on babies, small children, elderly and everybody in range.
Last week, George Zimmerman was acquitted after murdering Trayvon Martin in cold blood. Since the bogus "not guilty" verdict, people have been in the streets every single day all over the country. We are witnessing the growth of a new movement against systemic racism.
The murder of Trayvon Martin and the daily killing of Black and Brown people by law enforcement are inextricably linked. Now is the time to build a movement against this systemic racism and brutality. The families of nearly 30 people killed or brutalized by the police are leading a Mass March this Sunday, July 21 in Anaheim. The demonstration will gather at 1pm at Anaheim City Hall, 200 S. Anaheim Blvd.
Get on the bus from Oakland to Anaheim!
Seats are limited and the bus is filling up fast. Buy your ticket now! The bus leaves downtown Oakland at midnight Sat. July 20 and returns at midnight Sun. July 21.  Tickets cost 40-60 dollars, sliding scale. There is a student/low-income rate. For more info, please call 415-821-6545.
