Interesting follow up on this.  My wife reads a Japanese monthly 
magazine called Bungei Shunju.  It is also the name of a major publihing 
company.  The magazine is something between New Yorker and Atlantic 
Monthly or Harpers in content.   This week, they ran an article critical 
of GMO practices in the US and questioning whether they should import 
soy beans with roundup ready gene.
