Subject: How to Protect Our Vote: An Introduction & Training in EPA this SAT (9/24) @ 1:30pm
   Hi Greens,

I'm helping to organize our first Push for Progress Vote Justice event this Saturday in East Palo Alto and I hope you can attend and bring a bunch of community activists with you!

Can you please share the event details (below) with your networks? We've got the room and the speakers; now we just need to reach the people who are curious about how our ballots are handled and counted. Everyone is welcome, young and old, citizens and non-citizens alike.
   Thanks,
 : ) Melanie

Until we are able to push for a transparent and fair voting process, an organized group of informed and trained volunteers is needed to let our local, state and federal government know that we are ?awake
and watching.

By attending this event, you will take an important step towards being both better informed and better connected to a diverse group of people who care about our democracy. I hope you will consider attending and getting the word out to your networks ?.

   How to Protect Our Vote
 An Introduction & Training

Organized by Vote Justice, an Action Team of Push For Progress

Saturday, September 24th, 1:30-4 pm
City of East Palo Alto, Community Room
2415 University Ave, East Palo Alto, CA 94303

The purpose of this training is to empower citizens to effectively protect the vote as poll workers and election observers in the 2016 presidential election in November. Topics include:

Voter disenfranchisement

How to detect election fraud

Voting procedures

First count vs. audit

How to promote a well-run election

Speakers: Dennis Paull from Citizen's Oversight (citizensoversight.org) and Brent Turner from CAVO (cavo-us.org).

Dennis Paull has been an election activist for over 15 years. He has been a poll worker and election observer for more than a dozen years. Dennis works closely with Ray Lutz, of Citizen's Oversight, who is leading the current lawsuit against the San Diego County Registrar of Voters for not complying with laws during the CA primary audits.

Brent Turner is a community activist, instrumental in creating San Francisco County's Voting Systems Task Force and a director of communications for the Open Voting Consortium. Brent leads CAVO's mission to develop and make available open source voting systems for use in public elections. He dedicates himself to local, state and federal voting rights issues.

Vote Justice is a non-partisan action group made up of grassroots activists, focused on electoral reform to create a transparent and fair voting process, specifically in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties.

For anyone concerned about voting rights and election fraud. Space is limited. Refreshments served. Free, donations accepted.

Please RSVP (actionnetwork.org/events/how-to-protect-our-vote) so we can better plan seating and refreshments.
