The list of those who have been impeached during the history of the
United States includes<br>
: 1 Supreme Court Justice (Chase),<br>
2 Presidents (Andrew Johnson and Clinton), <br>
1 Senator, <br>
1 Cabinet Officer (<strong>William W. Belknap,</strong> secretary of
war; acquitted Aug. 1, 1876. charged with accepting a money for a
military appointment),<br>
and 11 other federal judges. <br>
So, it seems that there is a precedent for the impeachment of a cabinet
officer. <br>
