League of Women Voters and the American Association of University

women<i> </i>invite you to participate in a <b>Candidates Forum on

<u>Tuesday, September 9,</u> in the Baltic Room at West Valley

College.</b>  This event is for the public<b>.</b>  It may be

taped by <b>TV station KSAR</b> for viewing at other times also. 

All candidates are invited from these <b><u>3 separate races of interest

to West Santa Clara County voters</u></b> and are asked to appear as

follows:<br>

<b>6:00-7:15 – West Valley/Mission Community College Dist (6 candidates-4

seats open)<br>

7:15-8:00 – Superior Court, Office 8 Candidates - (2 candidates-1 seat

open))<br>

8:00-9:00 – Hours of Rep District 14 – (4 candidates-1 seat open)</b>

 <br>

During each race’s time period, we ask each candidate to make a <b>3

minute</b> introductory speech.  League will provide a timer to

assure that you will not go over the limit.  (Candidates will draw

numbers for order of speaking.)  <b>Audience

participation</b>:  Cards will be provided for written

questions.  After the <u>first</u> race’s candidates have spoken,

the League Moderator will read the audience’s questions to those

candidates.  Even if a question is asked of one candidate, the

others will be asked if they want to answer that same question. 

Near the end of the race’s time period candidates will have <b>1

minute</b> to make a last appeal to the voters present.  Then the

<u>next</u> race’s speakers will be called up to speak, followed by

audience questions to those candidates.<br>
