I see $100 k to a fundraiser, $100 k in legal fees, $150 k to campaign<br>
consultants (what campaign?), a whole lot of $1k contributions to other<br>
campaign committees, $350 k to the Democratic Congressional<br>
Campaign Committee, $70k legal fees. <br>

The rest seems to be restaurants, clothes, candy, flowers. Looks like<br>
she's spending a whole lot on expensive schmoozing and giving away<br>
her money to other campaigns.<br>

OK. Open Secrets can be believed if the candidates can be believed.
Their information comes directly from candidate filings and any
discrepancies are solely caused by timing considerations regarding the
schedule for updating various DB's on multiple systems. At least, that
has been my experience after spending a lot of time looking at the
expenditures of Richard Pombo (gone), John Doolittle (Going), Dana
Rohrabacher (on the bubble), Bob Ney (gone), Wm Jefferson (should be
gone) and Don Young (running for re-election from the state that gives
Sarah Palin.). <br>

Yes, this is typical. The things that need to be watched are questions
of who gets the money. The big issue for Doolittle, one that could
still get him indicted, was that he was paying his wife a 15%
commission on every $ that flowed in to his campaign, whether or not
she had done anything. The only records we found of her sterling
activities involved working for Jack Abramoff.<br>

During the 2006 campaign, Pete McCloskey was telling everyone that
politicians are like diapers. They need to be changed periodically,
and for the same reason. If any of you remember, the big change that
swept the Republicans under Newt Gingrich into control of the House of
Representatives was the fact that so many Democrats were involved in a
scandal involving a banking scheme, cooked up by Newt's predecessor as
Speaker of the House, Dan Rostenkowski. Rostenkowski ended up being
investigated so much that they found a reason to send him to jail. <br>
