I don't know whether you've been attending commission meetings as an
observer, but I would guess that the best help the Greens can offer
would be a crash course in Planning.<br>

The Planning Department offers a huge amount of text on it's <a
href="http://www.sanjoseca.gov/planning/">web site</a>, including <a
href="http://sanjose.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=17">audio
archives</a> of all the commission and director's meetings. There are
also <a href="http://www.sanjoseca.gov/planning/hearings/">archives</a>
of various kinds of roundtable meetings. <a
href="http://www.sanjoseca.gov/planning/hearings/archives.asp">This
page</a> might be the archive index.<br>

It looks like far more than one person can absorb in a week, but it
might be helpful for others to sift through it for the important parts.
Any of the Greens could read or listen, and then make notes on the bits
that might come up in the interview. I suspect that the Council would
be impressed by a candidate familiar with the work of the commission
and able to call up specifics.<br>

It might also be useful to invite current or past planning commission
members to coffee in order to get background info, but I did not find a
list of those members on the site.<br>

Of course, I'm very generous with advice but stingy with the actual
work. It wouldn't surprise me if you're on your own there.<br>
