I think that the following is self explanatory. <br>

It would make a great point if a Green were to head this list. <br>

<pre><div class="moz-text-flowed">HEY GREENS --- We could use some additional votes here . . . this is the
way I see this race . . .
1 - Most of the candidates are well qualified (one of them, Tony
Schultz, is an old friend -- but he is so far back in the votes, that,
well . . . it's too late for him).
2 - If Strader gets elected . . . Madison Greens will have access to the
official White House Farmer . . . which will mean that the Greens,
generally will have access to the White House Farmer . . . a good thing.
- Ben Manski

In an October /NY Times article
<a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/12/magazine/12policy-t.html?ref=magazine&pagewanted=all"><http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/12/magazine/12policy-t.html?ref=magazine&pagewanted=all></a>/,
Michael Pollan called for the creation of a White House Farmer position
and suggested turning five acres of land on the White House grounds into
an organic fruit and vegetable garden. In turn, the website
WhiteHouseFarmer.com <a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="http://www.whitehousefarmer.com/"><http://www.whitehousefarmer.com/></a> was conceived by
The Brockmans, a family farm in Illinois.
Claire's nomination says she, "...is just the woman to turn 5 acres of
the White House lawn into the nation's premier urban farm. Claire has
worked in small-scale organic agriculture for 15 years, including her 8
years at Troy Community Farm where she turned a 5-acre parcel of weedy
urban landscape into a highly productive and wonderfully beautiful
vegetable farm. Not only does Claire produce food for CSA, market, and
wholesale on this small urban farm, she also educates college students,
high-school youth, and adult volunteers through the farm's internship
programs."
