Caroline, Tian, and I set up and took down our little display of literature, buttons, bumpers stickers, tee shirts, and "Schwag by Caroline," which attracted interest and the donations. We sold one of Caroline's sunflower pens for $2 and a tee shirt for $10.<br><br>Gave away a lot of literature, especially the Donkey/Elephant flyer and, wonders of wonders,—due to many students being in a government class—the IRV pamphlets (varied) along with the Pizza & IRV pamphlet, and the Counting pamphlet. We told them about SF and SCC passing IRV, but that IRV has NOT been implemented by SCC. So we have some students of sufficient age who are going to watch for the 2010 initiative to implement!<br><br>Tian spoke at the mike and, later I was asked to speak as well, and both of us enjoyed a rapt audience regarding the Green Party ideals. I told them that the GP is the only INTERNATIONAL political party [did I speak the truth, Warner?] and that because of IRV and Proportional Representation, the GP parties in some countries share power at the highest levels.<br><br><br>JSA was, as ever, a very powerful connection to bright and eager minds, and most of the students had money to donate to the Green Party. We picked up a total of $54 for buttons and muffins. {Yes, I brought along the mini-muffins again!] The literature flew off the table, again, interest was generated by IRV and Proportional Representation, at least at my end of the table. Tom, the leader of this event, Caroline, and Brian had most of our stuff out by the time I arrived, and our table turned out to be a very popular place to stop, browse, and chat. The sweet-sour candy and the mini-muffins were a part of that draw. One little addition I made to my muffin shtick was to offer large, home-made from scratch, organic apple chunk muffins as a bonus to anyone who spent $2 or more. Sold 5 of them and extra buttons as a result!<br><br>Caroline picked up two more "Green Party" petals on our/her international language Sunflower banner—one in Persian(!) and another in (??)! Many wanted to contribute, but either found their language there or didn't know how to spell Green Party in their own dialect!<br><br>By far, Tom was the champion of the event as he made more of the "Marijuana as Medicine" buttons while buyers lined up, waiting for them! We stopped selling those buttons only when Tom ran out of the graphic. [We are going to have to stock a lot more of these in future, even when we go to perceived conservative groups!]<br><br>We chatted with lots of students and received questions that were thoughtful and challenging. Altogether, the interaction was added value to our gaining donations to the Green Party. Oh, and Caroline signed up a bunch of people interested in the January Food for Thought event.
