<div><font size="4" face="Century"> Duane made an effective candidate presentation. Michael McCue, who facilitated this meeting, was quite pleased to have Duane participate, even went so far to ask GPLA to contribute $200 to his campaign. This was hotly opposed by Mike Feinstein, who had the gaul to say, Duane had "a snowball's chance in Hell" to win his race! Never have I seen a Green group react so swiftly to such a tacky, inappropriate, unkind statement!</font></div>

<div><font size="4" face="Century"> While a m</font><font size="4" face="Century">otion to make an official donation didn't pass, Duane was rewarded with a LAGP endorsement. County Council members individually contributed to Duane's campaign, and several personally apologized for Feinstein's terrible comments!</font></div>

<div><font size="4" face="Century"> San Clemente Green Ace Hoffman gave a good San Onofre talk; regrettably due to typical inane Feinsteinian legislative posturing, a member of Friends of the Earth, who'd also come, left without speaking. Ron, if you know this young lady, who was quite disappointed, perhaps you can directly apologise to her for being unable to make a presentation. Let her know she can have all the time she wants in OC, which I also communicated to Ace!</font></div>

<div><font size="4" face="Century"> Edy Alvarez talked about Jill Stein's September 26th college campaign tour. I spoke privately with him, and shared both Matt's and my concern; two lengthy San Diego presentations would make it virtually impossible for Jill to speak in Orange County in the afternoon. I asked Edy to communicate our concerns to Hugh Moore, which he seemed uncomfortable to make. Jane, word to the wise; don't put too much effort into an OC event in which, notwithstanding Jill Stein's best intentions, it'll be extremely difficult for her to do.</font></div>

<div><font size="4" face="Century"> Jane, I've Jill Stein campaign hand-outs, made by Edy; I'll put them under your front door mat. Edy says he has Jill Stein campaign materials I ordered from him, over a month ago, still "on order!"</font></div>

<div><font size="4" face="Century"> Duane, Anthony Vieyra and I had dinner with Michael McCue afterward. Michael expressed interest to come Orange County Green meetings, and encouraged all OC Greens to visit LA to anytime. After ten years of exclusion, recriminations and much worse (!), it seems opportunities for LA and OC Greens to work together on political activities of mutual interest may start to happen! <div>We are hoping that new leadership will turn that around, and please know that LA Greens are feeling more positive about our prospects now, than at any time in the last 10 years.</div>

<div>Of course, this is due to the recent County Council election results and the energized group of Responsible Greens who are determined to turn things around in LA County. (Crossed fingers!)</div>

<div>We appreciate your continued interest in our ongoing activities, and yes, we want to work together with OC Greens...particularly on the San Onofre issue, which we feel can be an organizing issue for all Greens in SoCal, and should be our focus after the elections are over.</div>

<div>One thing that I need to ask your advice about...</div>

<div>You mentioned MF's attrocious comment to Duane, "<i>You don't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning</i>" for which an apology is certainly owed.</div>

<div>As the current Coordinator for the GPLACC, I was so flabbergasted at the statement when it happened, and am still so stunned, that I find myself now stupified as to how to officially respond to such an outrageous statement coming from one of our supposed Green Party "founders."</div>

<div>Because our Council unexpectedly offended a Green in good standing....a Green who has a record of service above and beyond the call of duty, not only as a candidate for Senator and candidate for Anaheim City Council, but also as an articulate voice for our party and our policies...</div>

<div>...and especially in view of the fact that the candidate made a special effort to attend our LA meeting on Sunday seeking our endorsement...</div>
<div> </div>
<div>...and because that mean-spirited comment violated our 10 Key Values...</div>

<div>...and in view of the fact that MF has a long record of attacking and smearing our Green candidates here in LA County...</div>

<div>Here's my ask...</div>

<div>What advice can OC Greens give me as to how to respond, or what action to take?</div>

<div>What would your Greens do with such a trouble-maker and with such a vicious comment? What remedy would you seek?</div>

<div>Should we censure? Should we demand a personal apology?</div>

<div>Of course, in my role as Coordinator, I want Duane to know that MF's comment is a singular anomaly, and does NOT reflect the feelings of LA Greens.</div>

<div>To the contrary...every LA Green I know (excepting MF) loves, and respects Duane, and we also very much admire his courage in running for Anaheim City Council.</div>

<div>What is your advice? How should we respond? What official action should we take to remedy this outrage? Should the state party be notified that such outrages are happening?</div>

central committee: to empower the democratic electoral process. Come
to think of it, to call for resignation from GPLA County Council wouldn't go far
