Now another has <BR>appeared on the other lung and others in her upper back, all <BR>associated with her original breast cancer.<BR><BR>Her husband Ralph Poynter told me today that Lynne's condition was <BR>still very treatable and that a cure was not at all to be ruled out <BR>and especially so if prison officials allowed her the expert <BR>treatment afforded her previously in a prominent New York City <BR>hospital. Lynne's request to be moved to that facility was denied. <BR>She is to be treated in a prison related facility, but fortunately <BR>under the direction of and using the protocols of her <BR>doctor/daughter, who is expected to be with Lynne at any moment.<BR><BR>We are still hopeful for a positive outcome, even under the most <BR>difficult conditions.<BR><BR>Meanwhile, Lynne's appeal preparations for a hearing before
the U.S. <BR>Supreme Court are now in progress, with Lynne having assembled a <BR>first rate team of attorneys including members of the Center for <BR>Constitutional Rights and the National Lawyers Guild.<BR><BR>Lynne campaigned for Mumia's freedom for the several years that she <BR>was free on bail and traveling the country in her own defense. She <BR>was present at Mumia's court hearing in Philadelphia and appeared on <BR>Democracy Now!, with Mumia phoning in in her defense.<BR><BR>I urge you to carefully read the material below and lend a hand. The <BR>stakes are high. We will continue to demand the finest medical <BR>treatment for Lynne and, of course, continue to campaign for her <BR>freedom and immediate release.<BR><BR>Lynne, a prominent civil rights attorney of 30 years, was the victim <BR>of a government-orchestrated 2005 frame-up trial that was riddled <BR>with violations of fundamental legal principles. She was convicted on <BR>five counts of
conspiracy to aid and abet terrorism. This was based <BR>on the government's charge that her public issuance a press release <BR>on behalf of her client, the "blind sheik" Omar Abdel Rachman, an <BR>Egyptian cleric who was similarly framed up and imprisoned for life <BR>on "terrorism" charges, was illegal.<BR><BR>Ironically, Rachman's freedom is today being demanded by Egypt's new <BR>President Mohamed Morsi.<BR><BR>Lynne, 72, was originally convicted and sentenced to 28 months in <BR>prison, but this "light" sentence was contested by the reactionary <BR>U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and her sentence was <BR>outrageously increased to 10 years, by the compliant Federal District <BR>Court trial judge, John Koeltl.<BR><BR>I urge you to write to Lynne and convey your love and solidarity. She <BR>toured the Bay Area several times in previous years, always speaking <BR>to admiring and stunned audiences, who realized that Lynne's case was
<BR>central to everyone's civil liberties. Lynne's conviction was a <BR>message to all attorneys that defense of the unpopular, defense of <BR>democratic rights and especially defense of Muslim victims of <BR>government persecution, was dangerous.
