<br>Here is an article by Robert Reich that, IMO, is a<br>good statement about why the economy is still doing<br>poorly. It boils down to:<br>- the rich have nearly all the money<br>so<br>- the rest have little to spend<br>so<br>- there is less consumption demand<br>so<br>- business sales are down<br>so<br>- businesses have no motivation to hire<br>so<br>- the rest have little to spend<br>so<br>...<br><br>Unfortunately, there is nothing here about<br>WHY there is such large inequality. He<br>may have done so elsewhere, I don't know.<br>I think it's about the "legalized bribery"<br>of Congress. And maybe that needs to be<br>dealt with before real recovery.<br><br>On the other hand, an improved economy<br>would also increase fossil fuel consumption<br>and CO2 production ...
