                  Here is an article by Robert Reich that, IMO, is a<br>
                  good statement about why the economy is still doing<br>
                  poorly.  It boils down to:<br>
                  - the rich have nearly all the money<br>
                  so<br>
                  - the rest have little to spend<br>
                  so<br>
                  - there is less consumption demand<br>
                  so<br>
                  - business sales are down<br>
                  so<br>
                  - businesses have no motivation to hire<br>
                  so<br>
                  - the rest have little to spend<br>
                  so<br>
                  ...<br>
                  <br>
                  Unfortunately, there is nothing here about<br>
                  WHY there is such large inequality.  He<br>
                  may have done so elsewhere, I don't know.<br>
                  I think it's about the "legalized bribery"<br>
                  of Congress.  And maybe that needs to be<br>
                  dealt with before real recovery.<br>

                  On the other hand, an improved economy<br>
                  would also increase fossil fuel consumption<br>
                  and CO2 production ... So what are you going<br>
                  to do?<br>
