Greetings Greens in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties,

At yesterday's GPSMC General Assembly Meeting (GAM) the following
actions were taken for GPSCC's consideration. Please let GPSMC know
how you would like to proceed and if we can offer any additional
information to facilitate our moving forward with these issues.

1. Invitation to a Regional Picnic Meeting at the San Mateo Central
Park (3 blocks from San Mateo Cal-train station) on Saturday, July
21st or Sunday, July 22nd, starting at noon. Would like to also
invite Santa Cruz, San Benito and Monterey County Green Parties to
join us.

2. Suggested agenda items for the Regional Meeting are: a report from
the GPUS delegation, candidate speeches, regional representative
election (if not resolved prior to the meeting), songs lead my Pat
Gray and other raging folks, Frisbee fun or other appropriate park
games, issue of adding Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito to our
Region, fundraising coordination, discussion of shared issue(s) to
work together for success.

3. Tentative approval of language for the Regional Representative and
Alternate further action will be coordinated with GPSCC. Please see
following for exact language approved.

---Begin approved language at GPSMC GAM June 16, 2007
Choice of Regional Representative and Alternate (Silicon Valley Region)

A candidate for Regional Representative to the GPCA Coordinating
Committee shall announce their availability as a candidate on the
[gpsmc-d email list] at least fifteen days before the General
Administrative meeting at which a vacancy or replacement is
considered, and the candidacy shall be announced on the agenda for
that meeting. The candidate shall describe their background relevant
to their candidacy and briefly describe their goals in seeking the
position. The candidate shall personally appear at the meeting to
answer questions. The decision shall then be placed on the agenda of
the following monthly meeting. If a candidate is approved for
regional representative in Santa Clara County, the same candidate
must also be approved for regional representative in San Mateo
County, or vice versa. Should the two counties choose different
candidates for Regional Representative, the decision shall be retaken
by both counties until there is agreement on a regional
representative. The regional alternate to the GPCA Coordinating
Committee shall be chosen by the same procedure. If candidates are
available, the regional representative and the alternate shall not be
from the same county.

This amendment shall be effective upon its adoption in substantially
the same form by both the Green Party of Santa Clara County and the
Green Party of San Mateo County, and shall not be effective until
adopted by both County Green Parties. It shall remain effective until
rescinded by either county, or until the definition of the Silicon
Valley Region changes. Upon adoption, the County Council from each
County Green Party shall separately and independently notify the
Green Party of California of their bylaws amendments opting out of
the default procedures provided by the state Green Party Bylaws.
---end.
