Dear Friend --

The Green Party of California endorses the US Social Forum <http://www.ussfsanjose.com/> - June 24-28 in San Jose - and encourages Greens to attend. The USSF is the US manifestation of a worldwide movement bringing together various social movements for positive change. It began with the first World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 2001.

The GPCA is co-sponsoring four USSF workshops, open to all USSF attendees. These workshops and the US Social Forum overall will be an excellent opportunity to meet kindred spirits, including many fellow Greens (register here <https://www.ussocialforum.net/register/individual>).

On June 27-28, also in San Jose, is the next GPCA General Assembly <http://www.cagreens.org/ga/2015-06> - our state party's primary decision-making body <http://www.cagreens.org/bylaws/2013-06-23#Article_7._General_Assembly>. Greens are welcome to register <https://cagreens.nationbuilder.com/reg_ga_jun2015> and attend as provided for in this policy <http://www.cagreens.org/ga/attendance-policy>. The agenda <http://www.cagreens.org/ga/2015-06/agenda-draft-to-counties> will include approval of the party's 2015-2016 strategic plan, planning for our 2016 US Senate candidacy and other organizing and party-building.

Looking ahead, how better to give electoral representation to social movements like those at the US Social Forum, than by running for office as a Green in 2015 and 2016 <http://www.cagreens.org/elections/run-green>? There are multiple offices up for election on the local level, as well as for state and federal office. Since the GPCA's founding in 1990, over 325 Greens have been elected to local office. Today 64 Greens hold elected office <http://www.cagreens.org/green-officeholders> statewide.

On the issues, the Green Party is in favor of closing the commercial property loophole in Proposition 13. Read about it as part of our newly updated Fair Taxation platform plank <http://www.cagreens.org/platform/fair-taxation>.

We hope to see you in San Jose, at local events in your own county -- and via the social media contacts below.

Sincerely,

Sanda Everette, Alex Shantz
