Rally for Kendra with Stage 4 Cancer to keep her home and still
be an Activist!

I have Stage 4 Cancer. I've had Brain Surgery and a Hysterectomy
over the last 2 months, and looking at Chemo & Radiation in the
near future (but exploring other alternative holistic healing
methods in a big way!) I'm FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE, and to KEEP FROM
BEING EVICTED.

I've also been an Activist and Community Organizer in Ventura for
20+ years. I’ve worked with over 50 organizations on dozens of
different issues, have organized / co-organized over 100 events.

Before getting so ill, I was working on 2 Pet Projects:
“Eco-Buyers Ventura” – A Conscious Consumers Cooperative, and
“Carbon Zero Cool Schools” – a goal to transition a local
elementary school to a Carbon Free school.

Right now, I have zero income other than the generosity of my
friends, peers, and advocates...this is an amazing community! For
those who have already donated, consider this an "update" and
something your can forward on your social media sites and
circles.

In order to pay my rent for August, and September and pay
Utilities, I need $3,000. In order to sustain myself financially
moving forward, I need $1500 a month. I need to create that
income by offering my many skills and services to donors /
investors.

What if 75 people out of my 2,500 contacts, each paid me $20 a
month to provide a service I can do on my laptop and/or with a
phone. I’ve accomplished quite a bit using those 2 items! I could
rest assured I was covered the next 2 months while I recover and
build my income and this amazing new “umbrella” org I’m
advocating we utilize called Transition Ventura.

Here are my 3 focus areas of my activism /organizing work:

1)Offering my space as a small community center in mid-town
Ventura for meetings, workshops, playshops, art, music, film,
cooking, growing food, seed bank, retreat, and a place to bring a
client or have a meeting in a nice quiet space.

***Research Grant opportunities, and apply for large grants to
disperse amongst the many organizations I’ve worked with, admire
and who want to collaborate more with other organizations and
with Transition Ventura on projects here that combine
sustainability, social justice, green businesses and local
economy efforts.

***Assist other organizations with promotion, organization,
strategic planning, and fundraising.
