WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Green Party of the United States has issued a series
of rebuttals to President Bush's 2006 State of the Union address and to the
Democratic Party's responses to Mr. Bush's January 31 speech.

The rebuttal clips have been placed on the Green Party's web site and be
downloaded at <http://gp.org/video/2006stateofunion/>.

The Green Party will also send by overnight mail a Video News Release
(default format: DVCAM) of the rebuttals to any member of the media who
requests it. A form to request the Video News Release has been placed at
<http://www.gp.org/forms/media/2006_sou_form.shtml>.

The five Greens representing the party in the video rebuttals include Green
elected officials and candidates:

Mr. DeLear reiterates the party's call for an immediate withdrawal of U.S.
troops from Iraq and for investigation and impeachment of President Bush and
Vice President Cheney for violations of the law and deceptions that led to
the invasion of Iraq.

Ms. Rogers discusses the failed Medicare prescription drug bill and the
urgent need for single-payer National Health Insurance.

Mr. Whitney addresses energy policy, global warming, and Green solutions to
the growing climate crisis.

Ms. Bowser covers the attack by President Bush and Congress on the social
safety net and on local democracy, in Washington, D.C. and throughout the
U.S.

Ms. Rotzler talks about the Green Party and its role as an independent,
noncorporate party.

The Green Party encourages reporters to contact and interview Green
candidates, officeholders, and party leaders for Green responses to Mr.
Bush's speech and to the Democrats' rebuttal. See the list of Greens across
the U.S. who are available for interview, appended below.

Greens throughout the U.S. are responding to the State of the Union address
in various ways. In Wisconsin, where Greens are leading a campaign to pass
an April referendum calling for U.S. troop withdrawal
<http://www.wisconsingreenparty.org/iraqreferendum/>, U.S. Senate candidate
Rae Vogeler <http://www.voterae.org> is traveling the state to speak out
against the war. In Lake Worth, Fla., Cleveland, Oh., and other cities
across America, Greens gathered with other opponents of the war for rallies
and other events.

The Green Party thanks Craig Seeman, T.E. Smith, David Menzies, and Susan
Dridi for their technical expertise in preparing and uploading the video
rebuttals.
