Subject: [SPAWN] tonight! Coho Watershed Plan- Public Forum in Woodacre

TONIGHT!   MONDAY August 10th, 6:30-9PM in Woodacre, our watershed community will meet for a public forum to review and provide feedback on the County's new draft Salmon Enhancement Plan that we hope will set the stage for important improvements in habitat conditions for coho salmon and steelhead trout in the San Geronimo Valley.  The public forum will take place on from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Woodacre Improvement Club, 3 Garden Way in Woodacre.

The salmon need you!  PLEASE ATTEND, LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS PROCESS AND HELP PROVIDE CRUCIAL COMMENTS & COMMUNITY INPUT INTO THIS PLAN! The Plan is available for you to download and review at http://spawnusa.org/

The agenda for the public forum tonight includes:
1) A review of the plan objectives & goals; 2) A discussion on what salmon and steelhead need to thrive, and how to achieve these conditions in our watershed through County and landowner actions; 3) Q & A with watershed scientists, planners and County staff.

San Geronimo Valley residents live in a unique and beautiful watershed!  Studies indicate that the Lagunitas Creek watershed (to which San Geronimo is a tributary) produces up to 15% of the State’s coho population.20Steelhead trout, designated as threatened, also find important habitat in San Geronimo Valley.  The potential benefit of protecting and restoring fish habitat in San Geronimo Valley is huge, and the fate of salmon here will have important ramifications for the entire Central California population of coho salmon and steelhead.

Written comments on the Plan will be due Sept 10th.

CONTACT PAOLA at TIRN.NET, 415-663-8590 x111 to discuss or for more info.
