Hello BAREC Supporters (and welcome new friends),

For those that showed up at the meeting on July 18th, thank you! I am
sorry the Mayor denied your public right to speak at the meeting. I
waited until the general public presentation to say that I was glad
Linda had the opportunity to present on educational urban farms, but
that I was very disappointed that the Mayor decided not to let the
public speak at the meeting. I further said I was happy to "give up"
my right to speak on the agenda item as I and other members of the
SaveBAREC group helped create the presentation; however, there were
more than just SaveBAREC members in the audience. The SJ Mercury News
identified the meeting publicly on Monday and there were many people
present that were not part of our group that wanted to speak. We will
post the video of the presentation and the Mayor's comments in the next
couple of days. I have never seen an agenda item where the public was
not allowed to speak. This does not seem legal. Many people left and
were very upset. Please write the City and tell them you are unhappy
with the way the City Council treated you and demand an explanation.

On a separate note, the Revised Draft EIR for BAREC was released on
Friday, July 21st. That means there is another 45 day public comment
period. The public comment period started July 21st and ends at 5pm on
September 4th. Since the information has not been posted on the City's
website yet, the date has already been extended until Friday, September
8th at 5pm. This is your time to make your voice heard. We will send
you information over the next week or two to let you know what you can
do. We will also ask that you plan to attend the City Staff meeting
AND the City Council that is going to be held later this summer. They
don't expect you to show. You need to be there to show them you will
not stand for what they are doing, specifically, not listening to the
community that put them in office.

As always, please continue to tell the City officials how you feel and
to not change the zoning of the property. We can do this!!!
