Los Gatos United Methodist Church is sincere about growing green. They
truly believe: Our Faith, our planet, our responsibility. Thanks to a
generous gift from members Mimi and Eric Carlson, the church has alrady
installed 5 banks of solar panels on the roof of their education
building. The panels have generated 6,370 kilowatt hours of electricity
in just two months.

has allowed LGUMC to prevent 12,740 pounds of greenhouse gases (over 6
tons) from being poured into the atmosphere.

Of course, the church has been able to save a lot of money on its
electricity bills, too. The church went from using 7,000 kilowatt hours
in the month of July last year to just 74 kilowatt hours this July.

The numbers speak volumes. And the installation of the panels has
inspired the congregation to do as much as they can to care for God's
creation in their offices and in their own homes. The church has become
a member of California Interfaith Power and Light and is in the process
of applying to become certified as a Green Business through the Santa
Clara County program.
