Alex,

Here is a copy of an email I sent to an out of state
friend who likes Ron Paul.

I did not hear any mention of Walter Williams.

In your email, you gave the DailyKos URL for both
the Daily Kos post and the California Greening post.
What is the URL for the California Greening post?

Ron Paul was in Mountain View this morning, in Charleston
Park, between the Shoreline amphitheatre and a Google
building.

There were, of course, a few speakers before Ron Paul.
One was named Griffin, who I guess is an expert on
something, and may have written a book about it.

Another was a former IRS investigator, I don't know his
name. He once was happy to be an investigator for the
IRS. THe someone introduced him to the idea that the
IRS was illegal. He did some research and concluded
that the IRS was illegal. He took some concerns to
his management and asked him/them for a response.
The response was to ignore his concerns and give him
some paperwork for resigning. So he resigned.

I am sure you know better than I Ron Paul's talking
points, so I'll just summarize what I can remember,
(I did not take notes):
- against the Iraq War
- return the currency to the gold/silver standard
- eliminate the income tax
- phase out Social Security and Medicare slowly,
essentially by making it optional instead of mandatory
- get the U.S. out of the U.N.? (I think he said that,
but it might have been one of the other speakers)
- eliminate the Federal Reserve
- I'm fuzzy on this point, but the general gist was a
    much less aggressive foreing policy

At some point he said that there would be plenty of
money to pay for things if you end the war in Iraq.

There was no Q and A. Too bad.

I met someone, named Bruce, who campaigned for Nader in 2000,
but who is supporting Ron Paul. So is his girl friend. I
don't know which came first.

I estimated the crowd size at about 400, Bruce estimated
about 600.

In various informal conversions afterwards, I met several
people who ranged from skeptical about the government story
about 9-11 to believing 9-11 was an inside job. Off hand
it seemed to me that theior reactions to the 9-11 issue
were similar to Greens. One woman said that a poll showed
that only 16% believed the governemnt story.

That's all I can think of for now.
