Bus Service to Mountain Communities Ending
VTA holds public meetings to discuss

Route 76, bus service from Los Gatos to Summit Rd.,
serving the communities of Loma Prieta, Chemeketa
Park, and Redwood Estates, is slated to be
discontinued. A public meeting will be held in
Campbell 5/31 and San Jose 6/5.

The discontinuation of Route 76 comes as a result of a
Comprehensive Operations Analysis (COA) undertaken by
the Valley Transportation Authority. Many other
changes are planned, including improving service
frequency on some routes. The proposed county-wide
service map shows no service whatsoever to mountain
communities south of Los Gatos, however.


The VTA began a series of 10 local meetings this week,
and will meet in at the Campbell Community Center
Activity Room, 1 W. Campbell Ave., on 5/31 at 3 p.m.
and 6 p.m.. The final public meeting will be held 6/5
at San Jose City Hall, Rm. W-119, also at 3 and 6.

Phase I of the COA plan is not scheduled to be
implemented before January 2008, but there was no
immediate word on when Route 76 would cease.
