[Sosfbay-discuss] car scrapping

One thing to consider is that according to Michael Ruppert it takes
12% of the energy a car will consume in its lifetime to manufacture
the car.

At the least we should demand that our new eco-mobiles be built
for easy maintenance and repair, and for a hundred-year lifetime.

I'd like to see a conversion industry that rebuilds and converts a
popular model (the Camry has sold over 400,000 a year since 2000)
on an industrial scale.

Battery conversion might also be a practical proposition for some
used SUVs if their high fuel consumption tends to limit their range
anyway. The world is likely to be awash in SUVs built to take on
the desert but never driven off road, which have a great potential
to achieve hundred-year lifetimes. Their engines will wear out
long before their suspensions will.
