If you are not on a first name basis with at least one local politician, 
you are not part of politics.  You can not accomplish everything just be 
demonstrating in the streets.

In a similar manner, if you are not on a first name basis with key media 
members in your area, you have no media plan.

e.g.  I had a good (means willing to take a call from me) relationship 
with Lisa Vorderbrueggen of the Contra Costa Times from the 2006 
Congressional Campaign.  One email to her re: Jeremy Cloward and the 10 
CD race got him a mention in her blog, Not as positive as I wanted... 
(Green have no chance).. but at least it got his name and photo out there.

Here is a test.  Answer this yourself with no use of the internet to 
look it up. 

Who is the opinion page editor of the SJ Mercury News? 
- Even if you know the answer, when was the last communication you had 
with her/him?
