[Sosfbay-discuss] Plenary

Carol, I have a couple of suggestions.

The national Platform committee can not now do anything until the 2012
Presidential Convention.

However, there is an effort underway to change the bylaws of the GPUS is
two significant ways.
- allow updates every 2 years.
- allow voting to take place on segments of the platform rather than an
up / down vote on the entire platform.

Currently, I believe that I am the only committee member from California
on the national Platform Committee. We are allowed 3 and your
participation would be welcomed. If you want to join in, then write a
note to Sanda Everette, CoChair of our National Delegation.
Instructions are here:
http://cagreens.org/delegates/committee_appt_procedure.shtml

I would warn you that we have to work through the process issues I
mentioned above before work on substantive issues commences. However,
when it does, there are several on the committee who share your
intent... to update the platform from what it was in 2004 and still is.

I could give a verbal report at the next meeting, but I am also interested in attending the plenary and working on including monetary reform in the national platform and figuring out how we can do that, starting at the grassroots level.
