Hi all - (pls forward to listserve which will probably stop my
email....)
I'm flagging everyone's emails to read in their entirety later (when
we're in the Win With Green in 2014 phase! after the press of campaign
demands in these final weeks), but having skimmed them, I wanted to
add a quick note to say:
THANK YOU EVERYONE! It was inspiring to me to be with you all, and
Valerie, I sure did miss you and so it's nice to hear that you were
actually on your way. I like your "Car-free for 30 years." Since my
main transportation method is Bikes, Buses, and Buddies, I have
experience with buses not arriving.
Another world is possible!

Wow, Valerie, 129 phone calls are a lot of rings. THANK YOU!
Regarding the event on Sept.30:
- Twenty-two people, including special guest Laura Wells attended.
(Two or three "strangers" and several others who are not part of the
regular "Green Chorus" made up about 1/3 of the group. Also, several
Green regulars from San Mateo were in attendance.
Considering the amount of invitations that were made and the publicity
that was generated, the size of the attendance to hear and meet the
Green Party Candidate for Governor was embarrassingly scant. Perhaps
more would have shown up if notices to be published had been sent to
the news media.
- Laura covered much ground in her talk. (She is very interesting and
articulate.) One thing she stressed was that she will continue
campaigning as a candidate for Gov. throughout the next four years.
- There was a good sense of Green energy floating around.
- Tian Harter deserves much credit for printing and distributing 350 -
500 attractive invitation leaflets around the Mountain View - Palo
Alto area. Approximatly 100 of the Willow Park Condo complex units
were also leafleted. Thanks also to Caroline Yacoub who leafleted at
the Sunnyvale Farmers Market. Then too, to Jim Doyle for his
promotions and his soliciting and recording ID information from
guests. And, Kudos to Dana and Gerry for the audio equipment.
- Gloria Purcell, former GP candidate for State Assembly added much
interest serving as the ad hoc MC for much of the ado. (By the way,
the sweatshirts she donated and auctioned off brought in $80 for
Laura's campaign kitty)
- One of the brightest aspects of the whole evening was the great
GENEROSITY of those who were in attendance. By the end of the evening
the crowd contributed more than
$1,500 to Laura's campaign. (Greens ain't tight.)
Valerie, and others of of you who couldn't attend, that's a lot of
what happened last Thursday.
For only 22 people who made the event, there was a lot of green hay
that was harvested -
both materially and ethereally.
That's it, in a coconut shell.
All the best,
Fred
- Then of course, thanks to all who attended.
