first is the first public meeting of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the
Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. It will be held at the Los Altos Library
on Friday, October 8 at 7 PM. We will present an overview of our plans
for activities to rid the world of nuclear weapons, let you know about
various ways in which you can participate, and give you an opportunity
to meet others in the area concerned with these issues.

In addition, there will be an inspirational speaker. We are privileged
to have Paul Chappell from NAPF to speak to us on "How Peace is Possible
and How We Can Achieve It." Paul is a 2002 West Point graduate who
served in Iraq and left active duty with the rank of Captain. He
currently serves as Peace Leadership Director for NAPF, and is the
author of two books -- Will War Ever End? and The End of War. If you
have not heard Paul in person, be sure not to miss this opportunity.

What: First meeting of NAPF-SV
Who: Paul Chappell
Topic: How Peace is Possible and How We Can Achieve It
When: Friday, Oct. 8, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Where: Los Altos Main Library, 13 S. San Antonio Road, Los Altos, CA

October 9 Peace Leadership Workshop Flyer
<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=ms69xbcab&et=1103730634768&s=50164&e=001BkKm8JZrsn2HqxPUjo2YfAtDUHAaDPfY1e8d76usXo1i0KY_JdV4LJZLxzYFIkPsY4Pt_HPjH2zrYStItjIpfyR6c-xuayDq547VZxBz_dr_FhyIuTzwzbAekiCfzDh99X-MiwoRSIKuhl1SWK18KSQWa4Q1WFS2bXJCGx_oNjyQdCVeLKytyPwpowylq4PDEOf4s8Vf7Yvkmvda0-h_yeWVYfSB1yFi>The
second event is a five-hour peace leadership workshop that Paul Chappell
will lead on the following day. Paul says that one of the most
important things he learned at West Point was leadership skills.
Moreover, he is convinced that the same skills can be used directly to
promote positive change in communities, countries and the world. That is
why he is dedicating his life to teaching leadership skills for waging
peace. This will be a terrific opportunity to gain practical knowledge
as well as inspiration in whatever you want to do with your life.

What: Peace Leadership Workshop
Who: Paul Chappell
Topic: Developing the skills needed to be effective in promoting
positive change
When: Saturday, October 9, 10 AM to 3 PM
Where: Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, 505 East Charleston

no additional charge.

Note: If you plan to attend, please email us <mailto:napfsv01 at gmail.com>
and include how many people will be coming with you.
