Good evening,
*
I am working with the 2010 01SJ Biennial (_http://01sj.org_
<http://01sj.org/>), and although there are a number of outstanding
events happening this weekend, there is one particular performance that
I think would be meaningful to you and the Green Party. I've included
the details below, and I hope that you will forward this information
on to your community and anyone else you think may be interested.
*Requiem for Fossil Fuels by O+A*
For more information and ticketing see:
http://01sj.org/2010/artworks/requiem-for-fossil-fuels/
Saturday, September 18th, 9:00pm, St. Joseph's Cathedral,* * $10.
With: Hai-Ting Chin (Mezzosoprano), Martha Cluver (Soprano), Geoffrey
Silver (Tenor), and Mark Uhlemann (Bass)
At the intersection of f*our virtuosic human voices* and the
*fossil-fueled din of helicopters, jets, traffic, busses, horns, train
wheels, and sirens* erupts a composition that pours gasoline on Dante’s
Inferno. /Requiem for fossil fuels/, written and performed by O+A (Bruce
Odland and Sam Auinger) with four singers and an 8-channel “Orchestra of
Cities”, is a unique setting of the Requiem Mass offered to a *world
struggling to reconcile its utter dependence on fossil fuels *with the
coming end of oil, coal, and peat.

Additionally, as part of Out of the Garage Into the World at South Hall,
there are a number of *FREE* eco and solar workshops taking place this
weekend. For more information, please visit:

- I would particular recommend "GrowBOT Garden Discuss, Explore and
Make": http://01sj.org/2010/attend/workshops/growbot-garden-workshop/
Hope to see you there!
All the best,
Denise
