[GPSCC-chat] Probably Not Attending Tonight's Meeting

Hi everyone,

Regarding the SAFE California Act (the ballot initiative to replace California’s death penalty with life imprisonment without the possibility of parole), I attended a signature gathering training at Santa Clara University on Monday night. They intended to have the petitions in their San Francisco office today with the idea of mailing them out ASAP to folks who sign up to volunteer this weekend.

The training was very informative and I highly recommend attending one. There's an online training this Sunday. See http://bit.ly/volunteer_trainings for the current training schedule. Note that more may be added AND they can send someone if there is a commitment to gather 15 people together for a training. For more info: info at safecalifornia.org.

I also received an endorsement form and other info via email on Tuesday, and I intend to request an endorsement from GPSCC at next month's meeting. (I didn't do it this month because of the very short notice and the fact that the agenda was already packed.) I'll send more details to the list tomorrow.

The campaign's website is http://www.safecalifornia.org, but there's not much there yet.

Best wishes,
Valerie

Folks! I came down with a cold last Friday and it is still hanging on...
In the interests of not passing around the little germies, and because my
energy level is really low, I probably will not attend tonight's GPSCC
monthly meeting.

Two Notes: At last night's monthly CCWG meeting, it was suggested that
the GPCA endorse the on-its-way initiative campaign to end the California
death penalty, and that when petitions become available they be circulated for
signatures at OWS events to encourage people to register to vote or
reregister Green.

I would be willing to host a weekend plenary agenda review meeting at my
house as previously -- or it can be somewhere else -- but we should have a
study group to prepare recommendations for the November 17th meeting.
