I count 4 council votes in favor of endorsing measure D: Spencer, Drew, Merriam and myself.
I will keep Spencer advised about updating the web site. Thanks.

Hello, All:
John reminded us of San Jose City Measure D to raise the minimum wage to $10 per hour. So far, 3 of the 5 members of the County Council have approved supporting Measure D. The other 2 have so far not responded.
John needs to go to press tomorrow with his Peace Movies Newsletter, and wants to announce Green Party support for Measure D. Therefore, I officially declare that the Santa Clara Greens are supporting Measure D -- unless we hear substantive arguments against it in the next few hours; please excuse the short notice.
JOHN:
Thanks for your work on this.
Could I ask you to do one more thing after you go to press with your newsletter: Tell me how you want our web site modified to reflect this.
Thanks,
Spencer

Spencer,
I have just now read the proposition language, I have seen the arguments against it. They claim that it may cost the city $600,000 (for enforcement) and then there are the unsubstantiated claims that paying workers more will result in businesses having reduced operating hours or other undesirable economic impacts. As I told the No On D people, if I could pay my workers $10 per hour in 2006 (the equivalent of $12.30 per hour in 2013 @ 3% inflation per year), you can too (pay your workers $10 per hour in 2013).
The city attorney's analysis is available here http://www.sanjoseca.gov/clerk/elections/2012Election/november/measure_forms/measure_d_ia.pdf(but the link to the text of measure D is broken)
The complete text of the measure is located here: http://www.sanjoseca.gov/clerk/elections/2012Election/november/measure_forms/measure_dord.pdf
Arguments for and against are located here: http://www.sanjoseca.gov/clerk/elections/2012Election/november/measure_forms/measures.pdf

John:
Have you read the details, at least the rationale of those opposed?
Assuming the text actually supports the title, I agree that the Green Party of Santa Clara County would support Measure D. If someone claims the text contradicts and negates the title, I would want to reconsider. Unless either Jim or Drew produce a reason to oppose this, I think we can count it as unanimous: 3 for, 2 no replies sounds like unanimity with a quorum.

Hi County Council,
I agree with John on Measure D and I vote for our GPSCC endorsing the Measure.
Thanks, John, for bringing it to our attention and for putting our endorsement in your newsletter.

I'm in favor of endorsing measure D, the San Jose City minimum wage being set at $10 per hour. As I stated on the No On D facebook page, I had a broke as mud business from 2006-2008 and paid my employees $10 per hour ( for the few months that I had employees). What say you, GP county council members? My newsletter goes to press on Tuesday this week and I'd like to have the GP endorsement for measure D if possible before then so I can include it along with the GP SCC positions on the other ballot propositions. Thanks.
