This is late notice, but If you are free this evening and would like to get excited about the possibility of what a relatively small number of committed people acting together can accomplish, I would encourage you to come to the Sierra Club's free film showing of the acclaimed documentary film, "A Fierce Green Fire".

RSVP's requested on the Meetup.com webpage linked below.

Light meal is included beginning at 6 pm, and film will start at 6:30 pm at the Redwood City Library, second floor Community Meeting Room.

Feel free to pass the word to any friends that might be interested.

Join us for a very special viewing of thishis inspiring documentary film on the environmental movement's evolution from the 1960s to the present!
Vividly narrated by Meryl Streep, Robert Redford, Ashley Judd, Isabel Allende and Van Jones, this sweeping history of the environmental movement, in five segments, includes rare, archival footage documenting the struggle to save the planet.
The movie looks at the movement's early days by focusing on figures like John Muir and Gifford Pinchot, both involved in the fight over damming Hetch Hetchy, and the closely related story of the Sierra Club and its first executive director, David Brower.
It progresses through the Jimmy Carter-era battle over toxic waste dumping at Love Canal, through the work of Greenpeace and the effort to stop whaling, to conflict over the Amazonian rain forest (including the assassination of Brazilian activist Chico Mendes).

"A Fierce Green Fire" also traces the raising of the movement's consciousness to racial concerns and the growing consensus that climate change is the "mother of all" environmental issues. Finally, it examines attempts to establish a worldwide climate treaty, such as the Kyoto Protocol.
For anyone who cares about the Planet or who has been involved in the environmental movement, this film will inspire and remind you of both past successes and some failures, and the need for concerned, involved citizen activists to continue the fight in the crucial years ahead!
Parents, bring your kids to see this film, and help them better understand your passion to Explore, Enjoy, and Protect this planet!
