The author of this note is a Democratic Party activist in Morgan Hill.
The copy list includes several candidates for Morgan Hill Unified School
District Trustee in the current election.
I reminded her that MTA spokespersons Cobb, Manski and Scopici-Belknap
were all Greens.
However, how much are the Santa Clara County Greens active in the local
MTA work?

Hi,
Here is an example of the work the Dems are doing to overturn Citizens
United. I received my fifth flyer today from the Charter School people.
It is simply obcene what is being done and the Organization below is one
of three movements all supported by Dems in this State to gut this
decision. When it comes time to get back to work on this one, I hope
that I can count on all of you to do what you can to support a
Constitutional Amendment!
Ever Onward,
Swanee

**Honda and Khanna Agree!**
**SANTA CLARA****COUNTY--**While incumbent Mike Honda and candidate Ro
Khanna oppose each other in the 17^th District U.S. Congressional race,
they emphatically agree that money is not speech and only human beings
merit rights under the U.S. Constitution. They are two of 32 elected
officials and candidates who publicly declared their support for a 28^th
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in response to a request by the
Santa Clara County affiliate of Move To Amend (SCC-MTA).
The California Supreme Court removed Proposition 49, a measure similar
to the proposed 28th amendment, from the November ballot thus precluding
the public from voicing its opinion. Local democracy advocates then
contacted elected officials and candidates in the upcoming election,
asking them to declare their position on the Move to Amend 28^th
Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. As opposed to the U.S. Supreme
Court rulings in /*/Citizen's United/*/ and a litany of cases supporting
corporations as persons, the signed pledges for a 28^th Amendment
declare both that "Only human beings, nor corporations or other legal
entities, are persons with constitutional rights" and "Political
contributions and campaign spending are not equivalent to political
speech and can be regulated".
The 32 elected officials and candidates who declared their support
included federal and state elected officials who will have a say when
Congress and state legislatures take up the amendment to the U.S.
Constitution. At the federal level Congressman Mike Honda and candidate
Ro Khanna supported the pledge. At the state level Senators Jim Beall
and Bill Monning as well as Assemblyman Rich Gordon signed on. Also of
note, California Attorney General Kamala Harris signed the SCC-MTA
Pledge to Amend, as well as candidate Dave Cortese in the San Jose
mayoral race.
SCC-MTA views the two-part Pledge to Amend as a litmus test to see which
elected officials will support efforts to end corporate constitutional
rights which infringe upon the rights of state and local governments and
harm individual citizens, such as the /*/Citizens United/*/ decision,
which allows corporations unlimited campaign contributions, and U.S.
Supreme Court decisions that have prevented GMO labeling, permitted the
sale of cigarettes near schools in violation of state law, invalidated
warrantless OSHA inspections of businesses, and removed nearly all
remaining restrictions on campaign contributions by the wealthy.
