By the way, this would be a good place for Greens running for County Council to collect signatures of Santa Clara County registered Greens. Sandy

Subject: Meeting Austria's leading elected Green politician at Palo Alto event Feb. 23

Hi all,

My name is Joe Mathews, and I'm the moderator of an event next Tuesday night, Feb. 23, at the Mitchell Park Library in Palo Alto. I'm writing to invite all of you to the event, which is free and public (with free refreshments). It's a panel discussion, including two Greens from overseas you might enjoy meeting. I'm hoping you can come -- and also spread the word.

The first of our two Green panelists is Maria Vassilakou, who is the executive city counicillor of Vienna, Austria. A leading Green politician in Central Europe with a great story (she's a Greek immigrant to Austria), a bright future, and an interesting record, particularly around transit and mobility, in Vienna.

They'll be joined on the panel by Palo Alto city manager Jim Keene and David Evan Harris from the Institute for the Future. The panel is about global lessons and examples of efforts to boost public participation and local democracy.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible. And very much hoping you can spread the word.

Best,

Joe
