Thanks to everyone who attended and/or helped publicize the Single Payer
rally at the State Building yesterday. There were about 35 people who
attended in a spirited gathering that was well-covered by the media for
being called on such short notice. KCBS radio covered it, as well as El
Observador, Sing Tao Newspapers, and Sing Tao Radio.
Representatives of diverse organizations addressed the crowd, including of
the California Nurses Assn. (Greg Miller), Calif. School Employees Assn.
(Rosa Escamilla), the Labor Party, Health Care for All Californians
(Carol
Dalrymple and Dave Wald), CHAM Deliverance Ministry (Sandy Perry),
Interfaith Council (Father Bill Leininger), Student Advocates for Higher
Education (SAHE)(Victor Cristobal), AFSCME Local 101 (Peg Elwell), Calif.
State Employees Assn., Low-Income Self-Help Center (Ruth), Santa Clara
County Single Payer Coalition, and San Jose Peace Center.
At the beginning and ending we marched in a circle and chanted.
What do we want?
Health care!
When do we want it?
Now!
What kind of health care?
Single payer!
Do we want Gov. Schwarzenegger?
No!
What bill do we want?
S.B. 840!

"Peaceable: the ability to interact peacefully. A skill set similar to
social or emotional intelligence that is unfortunately rare in today's
American culture, but can be developed by all. The Green Parties need to
lead the way in Peaceableness."
