[GPSCC-chat] Who would you like to see challenge Obama in 2012?

My votes are for Joe Stiglitz and Paul Krugman, both have received the
Nobel memorial prize in economics (2001 and 2008, respectively). "It's
the economy, stupid", and these two should be able to do far better for
the bottom 99 percent of the world's population than anyone the
Democrats or Republicans are likely to nominate. The mainstream media
has so far been able to minimize the presence in the political discourse
of the economy. However, the Republicans and Democrats seem to be
working hard to make the economy worse rather than better for the vast
majority of voters. The economy is not declining as rapidly as it did
under Herbert Hoover (30 percent on 4 years; no other 4-year period in
US history has a record that even comes close). Please see the plot of
real US GDP per capita below (2005 dollars; data from
www.measuringworth.org/usgdp).
