John, Citizens United was one of the Supreme Court’s worst decisions ever, but it will take a constitutional amendment to undo it completely—a huge undertaking that will take years to accomplish.

But there is something you can do right now to chip away at the decision and rein in some of its disastrous consequences:

Join Daily Kos and People For the American Way to tell the SEC to require publicly-traded corporations to disclose their political spending.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is the federal agency that protects investors from corporate abuse. As such, the SEC is well within its authority to require that all publicly-traded corporations disclose how they're spending money in elections.

The SEC is considering enacting a rule like right now, and is seeking out public comments on whether they should do so. That's why Daily Kos and People For the American Way are joining forces to gather signatures in favor of the rule and submit them all to the SEC.

This is something we can actually accomplish, right now. But it won't happen without a fight.

Sign the petition: Require all publicly-traded corporations disclose their political spending.

Keep fighting,
Michael Langenmayr
